Islamabad (NNI): Senator Irfan Siddiqui has categorically stated that no foreign pressure will compel Pakistan to release Imran Khan, urging the PTI founder to face his legal cases in court. He expressed hope that no foreign government or parliament would interfere in Pakistan’s internal matters.
Speaking to the media outside Parliament House on Monday, Senator Siddiqui said, “The only straightforward path for PTI is to confront their cases in the courts. If they are relying on any foreign government to open the prison doors, that will not happen.”
Referring to U.S. policies, Siddiqui remarked that Pakistan has consistently resisted external pressure. “We do not know the priorities of the newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump or how far he will intervene in the affairs of other countries. However, I can say with certainty that a prisoner remains in Pakistan who greatly assisted the U.S. in locating Osama bin Laden. Despite repeated demands from the U.S. over several governments, we did not hand him over. This proves that no foreign nation, including the U.S., will influence Pakistan’s domestic decisions.”
Criticizing PTI’s strategy, Siddiqui said the party avoids legal processes and instead resorts to propaganda through external, internal, and social media to internationalize its issues. “They tarnish Pakistan’s image by claiming that conditions here are worse than Gaza and suggesting that atrocities are occurring in Pakistan more severe than those in occupied Kashmir,” he remarked.
Senator Siddiqui accused PTI of disregarding national dignity. “These people neither respect their country nor care about Pakistan’s honor. The clear path for them is to face the legal system; if acquitted by the courts, so be it.”
He firmly stated that PTI’s reliance on external interventions—whether from a president, prime minister, Congress, or foreign parliaments—will yield no results. “No external force will open any doors for them,” he concluded.
