National High Authority (NHA) Chairman Arshad Majeed Mohmand revealed that the NHA currently collects only 13 percent of toll tax from its highways. This was disclosed during a briefing to Federal Minister for Communications, Privatisation, and Board of Investment Abdul Aleem Khan.

The Minister expressed concern over the low revenue collection and instructed the NHA to set annual revenue targets to boost efficiency and revenue. He suggested transferring toll collection to the private sector to address issues in areas with revenue collection problems.

Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized that corruption and incompetence would not be tolerated within the NHA. He directed the NHA to ensure all motorways have at least three lanes per direction, enhance revenue through toll plazas, and enforce axle load regulations rigorously.

The Minister announced that future motorways will have no fewer than six lanes, with key projects including Karachi to Sukkur and Sialkot to Kharian-Islamabad routes.
