The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an advisory predicting more rains and thundershowers from July 28-31 . The monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are expected to penetrate the upper parts of the country, bringing heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding . Here are the key points from the advisory:

  • Heavy Rainfall: Heavy monsoon rains are expected in parts of Loralai & Zhob, with divisions that may induce flooding .
  • Flash Flooding: Rainfall may cause flash flooding in local nullahs, while hill torrents may trigger in Sulaiman and the Kirthar Ranges, as well as in DG Khan and Rajanpur areas .
  • Landslides and Mudslides: Rainfall may trigger landslides, mudslides, or falling boulders, potentially disrupting roads in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Galiyat, Murree, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) .
  • Precautions: The public is advised to avoid flood waters, find safe locations away from flood-prone areas, and avoid staying in weak structures .
  • Safe Shelters: In case of intense rain, seek shelter in safe places such as schools, government buildings, or any concrete buildings .
