NASA astronaut Matthew Dominick has shared a stunning image of the moon descending over the Pacific Ocean from a unique angle, captured from the International Space Station (ISS). The photo, taken with a 400mm lens and 1/20000s shutter speed, showcases the moon against a backdrop of blue hues from the Earth’s atmosphere and clouds.
Dominick, who has been onboard the ISS for four months, initially intended to capture Tropical Storm Hone near Hawaii but was treated to the spectacular sight of the moon setting instead. The image has gone viral online, with many marveling at the beauty and vastness of space.
This is not the first time Dominick has captured a moonrise from the ISS. NASA recently shared another image taken by him from a “unique vantage point” inside the space station.
