Model and actor Nadia Hussain has apologised to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), stating that she never intended to disrespect any official and had fully cooperated in their investigation regarding a fraudulent call she received.
Speaking to the media outside the FIA office, Nadia clarified that she had provided all necessary information to the authorities regarding the incident. Her statement comes after the FIA launched an investigation under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), alleging that she had made baseless accusations against the agency.
The controversy began when Nadia took to Instagram to claim that a man posing as an FIA officer had attempted to scam her. She alleged that the impersonator demanded Rs30 million in bribes in exchange for her husband’s bail.
The incident occurred shortly after the arrest of her husband, Atif Khan, in a multi-million fraud case. The FIA had detained him last week, and he is currently under investigation.
Nadia explained that the caller tried to keep the matter secret, asking her not to discuss it with anyone. While she initially found the demand convincing, she quickly realized it was a scam.
Further clarifying her actions, Nadia said she immediately filed a complaint on the FIA’s online portal but was unaware that a written complaint was also required. She also revealed that the fraudster only contacted her via WhatsApp and had no direct connection to the FIA.
Calling for stricter measures against such scams, Nadia urged higher authorities to protect people from fraudsters and even suggested collaborating with FIA on an awareness campaign. She also encouraged the public to report such incidents instead of fearing them.
