Karachi: Senator Raja Nasir Abbas, the head of the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM), stated that their protests will end once the ongoing demonstration in Kurram is resolved. He emphasized that Pakistan belongs to all its citizens, and unity among all its factions is essential for the country’s security.
In a press conference in Karachi, Raja Nasir Abbas stated, “We do not talk about sectarian division in Pakistan. Without unity, protection is not possible.” He condemned the ongoing siege in Kurram, claiming that the people there are being punished for simply being Pakistani.
The MWM leader also criticized the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government, accusing them of shooting innocent people, with one young man killed. He further criticized PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, urging him to address the situation and demanding an inquiry into the shootings. Raja Nasir Abbas made it clear that the ongoing protests were not political but were based on humanitarian concerns, emphasizing that their protests were not against any political party.
He also referred to a recent agreement signed during a tribal Jirga in Kohat, where both parties agreed to implement its terms. Regarding the situation in Kurram, Raja Nasir Abbas mentioned that after 80 days of blockades, the protests would end once the road was reopened, and the siege was lifted.
He further stated that while MWM is not part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, they are still facing development challenges in Kurram. The MWM leader also emphasized the support they had received from Sunni Muslims when their vehicles were attacked in Kurram.
Abbas called for unity and hoped that after the roadblocks were cleared, peace and resolution would prevail.
