Punjab( The COW News Digital)A heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded in the town of Pindi Gheb, district Attock, Punjab, where a mother and her two young children lost their lives after falling into a deep pond.
According to local sources, the incident occurred in the Purana area of Pindi Gheb, when two young siblings accidentally slipped into a pond while playing near its edge. The children’s mother, witnessing the scene unfold, leapt into the water in a desperate attempt to save them. Tragically, all three drowned due to the pond’s depth and the lack of immediate help.
Eyewitnesses from the community said that the mother didn’t hesitate for a moment before jumping in after her children. However, the pond, known to be deceptively deep, proved fatal. Bystanders, upon noticing the distress, quickly called emergency services.
Rescue and police teams arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the alert. The bodies were recovered from the water and transported to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital for legal formalities and post-mortem examination.
Local residents and relatives of the deceased were seen mourning as the small town was gripped with grief. The incident sparked sorrow and shock across the region, with many highlighting the lack of safety measures and signage around the pond.
Officials have since cordoned off the area, and local authorities are reportedly considering installing safety barriers and warning signs to prevent such tragedies in the future.
This incident serves as a tragic reminder of the need for increased community awareness regarding water safety, especially in rural areas where children often play near natural or unguarded water bodies.
Community leaders have also called for counseling support for the affected family and stressed the importance of teaching basic swimming and safety techniques to children from a young age.
Funeral prayers for the mother and her two children are expected to take place later today, and a large turnout from the village is anticipated as people come together to grieve and support the bereaved family.
