New Delhi: Authorities in Uttar Pradesh’s Hata region are preparing to take action against yet another mosque, as a survey of Madani Masjid is underway. The objective, critics claim, is to fabricate justification for its demolition under the guise of legal scrutiny.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Modi government continues to intensify its anti-Muslim policies, curtailing the fundamental rights of Muslims at religious, social, and community levels.
In the latest incident, the newly constructed Madani Masjid has come under scrutiny following complaints from extremist Hindu organizations. Despite the mosque being built in compliance with all legal requirements, it is being targeted.
In Kushinagar district, far-right groups alleged that the mosque was constructed on government land, prompting local authorities to initiate a survey. During the survey, heavy police presence was reported, and the revenue department completed the land measurement. However, despite repeated requests from the mosque committee, the district administration has not shared the survey report, raising fears of potential tampering with the findings.
Extremist groups claim that the Madani Masjid encroaches on state land, but mosque officials assert that the Muslim community purchased the land 15 years ago and dedicated it for religious use. They emphasize that the construction was carried out strictly within the boundaries of the purchased land and that all necessary legal documents are available to prove ownership.
The mosque caretaker categorically stated, “The mosque is neither built on state land nor does it involve any encroachment. It stands on legally acquired land, and we have the documentation to back it up.”
This incident echoes a previous case in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal region, where another historic mosque faced allegations of being built on temple grounds following a similar survey. Protests against the desecration of the mosque were met with violence, resulting in police firing on demonstrators. The attack claimed the lives of four young Muslims and left dozens injured.
Observers argue that these incidents reflect a broader agenda to marginalize Muslims and undermine their religious and cultural heritage. The targeting of Madani Masjid is seen as part of a systematic effort to erode minority rights in India.
