Minister Takes Action: Overbilling and Drug Sale Crackdown
Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi has taken decisive action against overbilling and drug sale in the country. He has ordered legal action against officials responsible for overbilling protected consumers and directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to redress the injustice faced by electricity consumers using up to 200 units.
The minister has strictly prohibited the inclusion of protected consumers in the non-protected category, terming it a criminal act that will not be tolerated. This move is expected to provide relief to millions of electricity consumers who have been burdened by excessive billing.
In a separate move, Minister Naqvi has sought a comprehensive plan to check the online sale of drugs, particularly in educational institutions. He has directed the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) to prepare a cyber drug control mechanism and called for robust action against drug sale and purchase. A joint meeting with provincial authorities will be held by the end of the month to devise a strategy to combat drug trafficking.
The minister appreciated the performance of ANF and paid tribute to the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives in the fight against drugs. He also planted a tree at the ANF headquarters, symbolizing his commitment to a drug-free Pakistan.
Overall, Minister Naqvi’s actions demonstrate his resolve to address the pressing issues of overbilling and drug sale in the country. His directives are expected to bring relief to the common man and strengthen the country’s efforts to combat drug trafficking.
