Federal Minister for Privatization, Investment Board, and Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, speaking about the progress made so far regarding the privatization of PIA, said that the launch of PIA flights to Europe is a positive development. This flight operation marks a significant milestone for the privatization of the airline, as it assures people that they can now travel to Europe with PIA.
Abdul Aleem Khan further stated that, God willing, there will soon be good news about PIA becoming operational in the UK and the USA as well. He mentioned that various hurdles in PIA’s privatization have been cleared, and the process will now proceed swiftly. The IMF has approved two crucial issues for the sale of PIA.
The federal minister also announced that the 18% sales tax on the purchase of new aircraft will be waived, and all PIA losses will be transferred to the holding company. PIA will be sold without any outstanding debts.
He emphasized that after these reforms, PIA’s acquisition will become more attractive to investors, and the privatization process is being expedited. He assured that good news will be received soon.
