New York( The COW News Digital) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address at the United Nations General Assembly sparked massive protests outside the UN headquarters, as hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered to denounce Israel’s actions in Gaza.
Protesters, holding placards with slogans such as “Free Gaza” and “Let Gaza Live”, also displayed images of children killed in Gaza. Many chanted for Netanyahu’s arrest and urged the international community to impose sanctions on Israel over its ongoing military actions.
The demonstration coincided with a dramatic moment inside the General Assembly hall, where delegations from Pakistan and several other nations staged a walkout as soon as Netanyahu approached the podium. According to eyewitnesses, the hall was nearly empty as he delivered his speech, with only a handful of attendees remaining.
Organizers of the protest said their goal was to send a clear message that “Netanyahu is not welcome” and that “the world must hold Israel accountable for its actions.”
The protest outside the UN building was peaceful but highly charged, with chants calling for justice and international action. Several human rights groups supported the demonstration, demanding that Western governments stop military aid to Israel until a ceasefire is reached.
Netanyahu, however, continued with his speech despite the boycott and protests, reiterating Israel’s stance on security and accusing critics of siding with terrorism.
The event highlighted the deepening global divide over the Gaza conflict and the growing momentum of pro-Palestinian activism worldwide.
