Lahore( The COW News Digital)Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has made headlines after applauding a traffic warden who issued a fine to her son Junaid Safdar’s protocol vehicle for violating traffic laws in Lahore’s Johar Town.
According to Express News, the traffic police stopped a vehicle in Junaid Safdar’s security convoy for having tinted windows — a violation of traffic rules. A fine of Rs. 500 was imposed on the vehicle, driven by an escort named Muhammad Ali. The citation was issued without any external pressure, showcasing professionalism and impartiality in enforcement.
The incident occurred near Lake City around 8:30 PM, when members of the Dolphin Force halted the convoy due to the black paper covering the vehicle’s windows. Warden Muhammad Amjad promptly issued the challan on the spot, citing violation of safety and visibility regulations.
In a move that garnered widespread praise, Maryam Nawaz not only acknowledged the ticket but also personally commended the traffic warden and the Dolphin Force officers involved. “The law is equal for everyone,” she remarked, reinforcing the message of accountability and transparency in governance.
This unusual show of support for law enforcement by a high-profile political figure struck a chord with the public, many of whom took to social media to praise Maryam Nawaz’s stance. Critics and supporters alike acknowledged the symbolic importance of the gesture in a country where political privilege often undermines the rule of law.
Observers noted that this act could set a precedent for better public service and more disciplined protocol handling, particularly among political elites. Junaid Safdar himself has not issued any statement, and no objection was raised from his side during the incident.
Meanwhile, citizens expressed hope that such impartial enforcement would become a consistent feature of traffic policing across the country.
In a political climate where leaders are frequently accused of misusing power, Maryam Nawaz’s public endorsement of the traffic warden has sent a strong message about her administration’s approach to governance and rule of law.
