On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the second shipment of 41 essential items, including medicines and other necessary supplies, has been sent to Parachinar. The Chief Minister has also ordered the provision of 5 additional trucks for further delivery.
Maryam Nawaz had instructed on December 19 during a cabinet meeting to send medicines and other necessary items to Parachinar after receiving requests from the people. Provincial Health Ministers Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Khawaja Imran Nazir, and Secretary Emergency Services Dr. Rizwan Nasir supervised the process of transferring the medicines.
According to officials, more medicines are being sent to Parachinar, including insulin, rabies vaccines, life-saving medicines, and other necessary supplies. So far, 12 large cotton bales of essential medicines have arrived in Parachinar, and arrangements for the further delivery of medicines have been completed.
Under the direction of Maryam Nawaz, a senior patient from Parachinar was immediately transferred to Islamabad via the Punjab Air Ambulance Service for surgery. The patient’s son, Zeeshan Haider, thanked Maryam Nawaz and praised the air ambulance service.
Maryam Nawaz stated that the people of Kurram are in distress, and it is a time for service, not politics. She expressed hopes for normalcy to return soon and assured that the people of Parachinar will not be left alone in their difficulties. A mobile health unit will also be sent to Kurram based on the needs of the people.
She added that if necessary, more patients will be transferred from Parachinar to Rawalpindi via air ambulance. Maryam Nawaz further emphasized that her leader, Nawaz Sharif, had specifically instructed her to help the people of Parachinar, and all possible assistance will be provided. She highlighted that the goal of starting the air ambulance service was to ensure timely and rapid aid, and helping those in distress remains their mission.
