Actress Maryam Nafees has voiced concern over the persistent societal stigma against women working in the entertainment industry, saying they are still viewed with disdain despite their talent and education.
Speaking on a private morning TV show, the rising star highlighted the double standards women face in society, especially those earning a living on their own. She expressed disappointment that even in this century, women stepping out for work continue to be judged harshly.
Nafees stressed that showbiz is home to many well-educated women from diverse backgrounds, yet the profession remains socially undervalued and misjudged. She added that despite misconceptions, many artists are diligent about their religious obligations, even during shoots.
The actress called for greater respect and acceptance for women in the entertainment field, urging society to evolve its outdated perceptions.
