Islamabad : Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, paid heartfelt tribute to the martyrs of the Army Public School (APS) Peshawar on the anniversary of the tragic incident.
In his statement, the Speaker said, “The heart-wrenching tragedy of December 16, 2014, remains a dark chapter in our nation’s history, one that will never be forgotten. This grievous event plunged the entire nation into sorrow and anguish.”
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized that the sacrifices of the innocent students and teachers of APS not only strengthened the nation’s resolve against terrorism but also united the country in its fight against this menace. He described the APS martyrs as symbols of national unity and unwavering determination in the face of terrorism.
He lauded the resilience and courage of the parents who lost their children, noting, “Despite their immense loss, these families have shown incredible strength and resolve.” The Speaker reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to playing a pivotal role in the fight against terrorism through effective legislation.
“December 16 serves as a day to renew our pledge to ensure peace and security for a safer and brighter future for our children,” he added.
Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, also paid tribute to the APS martyrs. He remarked that the memories of the innocent students and teachers remain fresh in the nation’s hearts.
Acknowledging the sacrifices of the armed forces and law enforcement personnel, the Deputy Speaker said, “The martyrs of Pakistan are our true heroes, and their sacrifices will forever be honored.” He highlighted that the bravery and sacrifices of the APS victims united the nation against terrorism and sent a strong message that no sacrifice is too great for the peace and stability of Pakistan.
