Islamabad ( The COW News Digital)Bahria Town founder Malik Riaz has warned of a potential nationwide shutdown of Bahria Town operations, citing increasing pressure and actions from government institutions. The real estate tycoon made the announcement via a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), expressing concerns over what he termed as a systematic clampdown.
According to Malik Riaz, ongoing actions by state institutions have severely disrupted the operational and financial structure of Bahria Town. He alleged the arrest of dozens of staff members, freezing of company bank accounts, and seizure of official vehicles, all of which have crippled the organization’s ability to function.
“We are unable to pay staff salaries. The situation has become so dire that we are now being forced to consider completely halting Bahria Town activities across Pakistan,” Riaz stated. He added that this would be a last resort, but the deteriorating ground realities have left the organization with few options.
The Bahria Town founder also claimed that daily services are now impossible to sustain, development projects have come to a halt, and essential maintenance in residential communities is suffering. “Over 50,000 employees are at risk, many senior staff members are missing, and thousands of families are facing mental distress and financial uncertainty,” he lamented.
Malik Riaz emphasized that this crisis is not just organizational but also a threat to Pakistan’s economy, as billions in investments from ordinary citizens in cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad have been frozen. Numerous commercial projects are now on the verge of collapse due to stalled construction.
Despite the turmoil, Riaz expressed his continued love and loyalty to Pakistan, asserting that his contributions over two decades — building world-class housing societies, generating employment, and contributing billions in taxes — speak for themselves.
He called for serious dialogue and dignified resolution, offering full cooperation in any arbitration process. “If the outcome requires us to make financial payments, we will comply fully,” he said, appealing to state institutions for an opportunity to find a way forward.
Riaz concluded by saying that Bahria Town remains committed to serving the people and the country, not walking away silently during challenging times.
