Royal Commission Authority for Makkah and the Sacred Sites in Saudi Arabia has announced the phased launch of the eco-friendly “Makkah Taxi” service, which will be available seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
According to local media, the service will initially cover 47 key locations in Makkah, including the central area around the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) and other important points.
The taxi contractors have a large fleet of these specific vehicles, which have been approved by the Transport General Authority to meet transportation standards. Passengers will have multiple payment options, including cash and credit cards. In addition to digital meters in the vehicles, a system ensuring the safety of both passengers and drivers is also in place, with CCTV cameras installed inside the vehicles for monitoring purposes. An emergency contact system is also available for immediate communication if needed.
