Karachi: Popular actress and TV host Maira Khan has revealed that she was often mistaken for superstar Mahira Khan by brands and drama producers, leading to job offers meant for the latter. However, she added that callers would soon realize their mistake.
Speaking on a recent episode of an ARY talk show, Maira Khan shared several personal and professional experiences. She disclosed that she began her career as a child artist at the age of five and has been working ever since.
The actress also made a surprising revelation about her early marriage, stating that she got married before turning 16, leaving her with no time for romantic relationships. Recalling her teenage years, she humorously mentioned that, in the absence of social media, boys would express their feelings by attaching love notes to cricket balls and tossing them into her house.
During the interview, Maira Khan also revealed that she and renowned actor Faisal Qureshi are second cousins. She said they were unaware of their family connection until about a decade ago when they discovered that Faisal Qureshi’s grandfather and her grandmother were cousins.
In a lighthearted segment of the show, Maira hinted that actor Bilal Abbas’s phone password might be named after his new girlfriend but refrained from revealing her identity. The show’s host, Ayaz Samoo, speculated that Bilal Abbas’s rumored girlfriend could be actress Dur-e-Fishan Saleem.
Maira Khan also disclosed that she was originally offered the role of “Khoobsurat” in the hit sitcom Bulbulay, but she declined due to travel commitments in Japan.
One of her most intriguing revelations was that a major brand once mistakenly approached her for a commercial, thinking she was Mahira Khan. Upon realizing the error, they apologized and later officially offered her a role in the same campaign the following year. She added that even drama producers initially confused her with Mahira Khan, and fans would frequently ask her if she had a son, referring to Mahira’s son, Ibrahim.
Maira Khan’s candid revelations provided an entertaining insight into the mix-ups and surprises she has encountered in her career.
