Farhan Asif, a Lahore resident accused of spreading fake information online that allegedly fueled riots in Britain, has been acquitted by a district court in Punjab. The court’s decision came after the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) investigation officer revealed that no evidence was found to establish Asif’s guilt.
Asif had posted a fake news report on his social media accounts, but it was deleted within six hours. The magistrate heard detailed arguments and discharged Asif from the case, as the investigation agency failed to prove his involvement in any illegal activity.
Asif’s lawyer, Rana Rizwan Akhtar, confirmed that his client had been absolved in the investigation, highlighting the lack of evidence against him.
