KARACHI( The COW News Digital) The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened on a positive note on Wednesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 index gaining ground in early trading. At around 9:33 AM, the index had risen to 140,202 points, marking an increase of 782.56 points from the previous close, reflecting strong investor sentiment at the start of the session.
By 11:09 AM, the KSE-100 index stood at 139,790.47, showing a gain of 370.86 points or 0.27 per cent. During the morning session, the index moved within a range of 139,604.53 to 140,202.17.
The market recorded a trading volume of over 65.5 million shares, with the total value of traded shares exceeding Rs6.2 billion. The previous day’s close was 139,419.61 points. The KSE-100 has so far recorded a year-to-date gain of 21.42 per cent, while the one-year performance shows a remarkable increase of 76.98 per cent.
Among the notable gainers in the broader market were HIFA, which jumped 22.62 per cent to Rs5.42; FCEL, which rose 14.39 per cent to Rs4.69; and GUSM, which increased 11.63 per cent to Rs9.60. Other significant advancers included ALAC, TRSM, ASTM, IML, MWMP, UDPL, and EMCO, all posting gains of around 10 per cent.
On the other hand, some stocks came under pressure. AATM led the laggards with a 10 per cent drop to Rs62.84, followed by AMBL, down 9.63 per cent to Rs12.10, and TSMF, which declined 8.92 per cent to Rs10.01. FDPL, TSML, UDLI, DIIL, FEM, PMI, and AGSML also posted losses ranging between 4 and 7 per cent.
Within the KSE-100 index, several companies recorded declines by midday. PABC was trading at Rs156.50, down 2.33 per cent, while AGL dropped to Rs60.85, a decline of 2.26 per cent. SRVI lost 1.96 per cent to trade at Rs1,250.01, THALL was down 1.77 per cent at Rs415.03, and PTC shed 1.71 per cent to stand at Rs23.55. MEHT also slipped by 1.34 per cent to Rs365.00.
On the upside, several blue-chip stocks within the index showed strong performance. UPFL surged 10 per cent to reach Rs30,554.94, while HGFA rose by 8.12 per cent to Rs13.98. JVDC gained 4.30 per cent, trading at Rs81.84. AICL climbed 3.97 per cent to Rs72.00, JDWS advanced 3.41 per cent to Rs1,020.00, and ATLH increased by 2.99 per cent, standing at Rs1,116.00.
