Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, both the government and the opposition opposed military operations in the tribal districts. The Speaker of the Assembly also hinted at summoning the Corps Commander for a briefing on the law and order situation.
According to details, during a discussion in the KP Assembly on the security situation in the tribal districts, the government and the opposition reached a consensus against the possibility of operations in these areas.
Assembly members stated that operations in the tribal districts would not be accepted, while government representatives clarified that any decision on operations would be made by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the Chief Minister.
The Speaker remarked that the questions raised in the KP Assembly are worth consideration. He noted that operations have been conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for two decades, leading to both the displacement and rehabilitation of people.
He further said that there is a lack of trust between the military and elected representatives. The Speaker summoned the Inspector General (IG) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to brief the opposition leader and other assembly members on the law and order situation.
He added that in the next phase, the Corps Commander would also be called for a briefing on the security situation.
