Peshawar:
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has issued an important statement following the signing of a peace agreement between the conflicting parties in Kurram district.
Gandapur expressed his satisfaction, stating that the provincial government’s efforts for a peaceful resolution of the Kurram issue have borne fruit. He welcomed the signing of the agreement, calling it a significant step toward a sustainable solution to the problem. He congratulated all the stakeholders involved in the process.
The Chief Minister hoped that the agreement would provide a strong foundation for a lasting resolution of the issue, and he thanked the elders, the parties, the Jirga members, cabinet members, and relevant civil and military officials for their contributions. He noted that it was a positive development that the parties had reached an agreement.
Gandapur further stated that the signing of the agreement has paved the way for the opening of the Kurram land route. He praised the parties for playing a positive role in promoting peace in the region, adding that the agreement sends a clear message to elements spreading hatred. The message, he said, is that the people of the region are peace-loving.
He appealed to the parties to reject elements that spread division and to work toward unity. The Chief Minister reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to resolving the issues faced by the people of Kurram and restoring normalcy in the area.
Gandapur emphasized that fighting and violence are never the solution to any problem, and that issues and disputes can only be resolved through dialogue. He noted that violence only begets more violence, which harms the interests of the parties, the region, and the government. He underscored that peaceful coexistence and tolerance are fundamental teachings of Islam.
“In Pashtun traditions, even the most significant issues are resolved through Jirgas. Thanks to Allah, we are making progress toward a sustainable solution. I congratulate the people of Kurram on this significant development. We are fully aware of the difficulties faced by the public, and every possible step will be taken to address them,” he said.
The Chief Minister concluded by emphasizing that peace in the region will lead to development, and that peace will bring about positive changes in the lives of the people.
