Ali Amin Gandapur, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, pledged to hold those responsible for the deaths of PTI workers during the party’s protest on November 26 accountable, ensuring that the sacrifices of the martyrs would not be in vain.
During a visit to Abbottabad, Gandapur laid the foundation stone for the Havelian Water Supply Scheme. He was accompanied by Provincial Minister Pukhtoon Yar Khan and local representatives. The project, worth PKR 4.64 billion, is set to provide 250,000 gallons of water daily to residents of both urban and rural areas of the Havelian Tehsil. It will benefit approximately 94,000 people, providing them with clean drinking water.
Addressing the ceremony, Gandapur announced several other development projects for the region, including the acquisition of land for a new cemetery in Havelian and the construction of the Havelian City Bypass. He reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Havelian into a well-developed area.
The CM also paid tribute to those who had lost their lives during the PTI’s protest in Islamabad, stating, “We will ensure that the blood of our martyrs is avenged. Their sacrifices will not be forgotten.” He emphasized the importance of continuing the struggle for true democracy and self-determination.
In his address, Gandapur praised the people for supporting the party’s founder, Imran Khan, in their fight against fascism and oppression. He stressed that the struggle for a sovereign and self-reliant nation would continue.
The Chief Minister directed district administration officials to hold regular open forums and allocate at least one hour daily for public meetings. He also ordered a crackdown on illegal mining and crushing plants in the division and insisted that unregistered warehouses be registered by January 1.
Gandapur instructed the transfer of patwaris (land record officers) to their respective constituencies by the same deadline, warning of action against those who fail to comply. He further emphasized that all departments must conduct monthly review meetings of development projects, with elected representatives included in these discussions.
He called on government officials and parliamentarians to enhance public engagement, utilizing social media to increase awareness and collect feedback on ongoing development schemes. Gandapur stressed that development projects are funded by taxpayers’ money, urging the public to take ownership and oversee the quality of work.
The CM also announced the introduction of an e-payment system for fines and instructed officials to ensure that inspections of businesses and other establishments were not unnecessarily burdensome. He recommended a first warning before imposing fines for violations.
