Peshawar( The COW News Digital) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has responded strongly after India submitted his statement to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) as evidence against Pakistan. The chief minister condemned the move, accusing India of presenting his comments out of context to malign Pakistan.
Ali Amin Gandapur asserted that India is actively involved in terrorism within Pakistan and the broader region. Announcing a counteraction, he declared his intention to expose India’s role at FATF, highlighting cross-border terrorism and destabilizing activities in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan—regions where he has previously served as minister.
Gandapur revealed plans to write directly to FATF officials and personally engage with them to present evidence of India’s interference and support for terrorism in Pakistan. He emphasized that India’s actions contribute significantly to unrest in Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
The chief minister went further, pledging to push for India’s placement on the FATF grey list. India had earlier used Gandapur’s statements, in which he accused Pakistani institutions of inconsistencies regarding Taliban detentions, to support its claim that Pakistan tolerates terrorism.
India’s submission to FATF included Gandapur’s remarks suggesting that while Pakistan arrests Taliban militants, certain agencies allegedly facilitate their release. India urged FATF to re-list Pakistan on the grey list, despite Pakistan’s removal from it in October 2022 after being placed there since 2018.
Ali Amin Gandapur strongly rejected India’s narrative, affirming that Pakistan’s security forces and citizens have made unparalleled sacrifices to combat terrorism. He sent a clear message to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Pakistan stands united in its defense against external threats.
This escalating diplomatic confrontation at FATF underscores ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India over regional security and terrorism allegations. The FATF grey list is a critical international designation with significant implications for Pakistan’s economy and international standing.
Pakistan continues to assert that it is committed to eliminating terrorism from its soil and accuses India of orchestrating unrest within its borders. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister’s announcement signals a robust approach to counter India’s efforts on the global stage.
As this diplomatic tussle unfolds, attention remains on how FATF will respond to submissions from both sides and what impact this may have on regional peace and cooperation efforts.
