KP Assembly Passes Overseas Pakistani Commission Amendment Bill 2024

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly has approved the Overseas Pakistani Commission Amendment Bill 2024, aimed at safeguarding the rights of overseas citizens from the province.

Under the amended bill, an Overseas Commission will be established to address the grievances and concerns of overseas Pakistanis from KP. A senior government official of Grade 20 or above will be appointed as the Commissioner of the Overseas Commission.

The Chief Minister will serve as the Chairperson of the Commission, while two members of the provincial assembly, nominated in consultation with the Speaker, will also be part of the Commission.

As per the bill, the Commissioner will submit a performance report every month, and the Commission will review the performance of the Commissioners every four months.

The Commissioner will forward complaints from overseas citizens to the relevant government agency or district committee. If the complaints are not resolved, the Commissioner will recommend action against the responsible officials
