In a strong statement, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur declared that the provincial government would not permit any military operations within the region.
Addressing concerns over increasing militant activity, Gandapur firmly opposed the idea of operations, stating that despite the killing of several terrorists, a similar number continue to infiltrate from Afghanistan. He revealed that an estimated 9,500 to 11,000 militants have already entered the province, with an additional 22,000 or so stationed across the border.
“With the support of the public and a clear intent, we will deal with them effectively,” he stated, urging unity and a strong will in tackling the ongoing threat.
Gandapur also criticized the recent National Security Committee meeting, calling it more of a presentation session than a decisive strategy discussion. He emphasized that had presentations and statements been enough to eliminate terrorism, it would have been eradicated by now.
The Chief Minister further clarified that there was no mention of PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, during the meeting. He concluded that to make progress, it is crucial to release the former Prime Minister, as his freedom is essential for moving forward.
