Islamabad (The COW News Digital)Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has described the recent meeting between Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and U.S. President Donald Trump as highly significant, expressing confidence that “encouraging developments” will emerge from this diplomatic engagement in the coming days.

Speaking to Express News, Khawaja Asif emphasized that the meeting reflects Pakistan’s increasing importance in global diplomacy, particularly in the context of ongoing tensions in the Middle East. “The fact that our Army Chief was invited by the U.S. President during such a sensitive period is a matter of great pride for Pakistan,” he stated.

According to diplomatic sources, the meeting, held at the White House, lasted for nearly two hours and took place in a cordial and constructive environment. President Trump reportedly described the encounter as “an honor,” praising Field Marshal Munir’s leadership and commitment to regional peace.

A broad range of issues was discussed during the meeting, including the evolving situation in the Middle East, the Iran-Israel conflict, and the future of U.S.-Pakistan relations. Notably, Trump acknowledged Pakistan’s potential role as a mediator, commenting, “Perhaps Pakistan understands Iran better than others.”

President Trump also extended his gratitude to Field Marshal Munir for his role in de-escalating tensions with India, citing it as a valuable contribution to regional stability. “We are thankful for the steps taken to prevent further conflict,” he said.
