Islamabad( The COW News Digital )Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has hinted at the possible inclusion of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in both the federal and Punjab governments, fueling speculation about evolving political alignments.

In an interview with media, Khawaja Asif stated that while he could not disclose the exact developments taking place behind closed doors, there is a strong possibility that the PPP may soon join the ruling coalition. “What is happening right now cannot be shared publicly, but yes, it is quite possible that PPP will become part of the government,” he said.

Asif further commented that the inclusion of PPP in the government would be a positive development, especially in terms of building political consensus and strengthening democratic processes. However, he admitted that he is not fully aware of the details of any ongoing talks or formal contacts between PPP and the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

He emphasized that the PPP and PML-N, two of Pakistan’s major political parties, have the potential to collaborate on a national agenda, which he believes is crucial given the country’s current economic and political challenges.

This statement comes just a day after Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, a prominent PPP figure, dismissed rumors about any formal proposal from the federal government for PPP’s inclusion in the ruling alliance. Memon had stated that “no offer has been made so far,” and advised against speculating on such matters.

If the PPP does join the government, it would significantly impact the political dynamics in Punjab, where PML-N currently holds sway, and at the federal level, where alliances are often vital for legislative control and stability.

Analysts view this development as part of a broader effort to stabilize the political landscape amid economic pressures and internal party reshuffling. The coming weeks may reveal whether the PPP is ready to share power or prefers to maintain its current position in opposition on selective matters.

As the political scenario continues to unfold, all eyes are on Islamabad and Lahore to see whether Pakistan’s two largest parties will once again join hands in governance.
