Khawaja Asif Claims PTI Members Are Not Loyal to Their Leader

Islamabad: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members, stating that they are not loyal to their leader, Imran Khan.

Responding to PTI’s refusal to engage in ongoing negotiations with the government, Asif remarked that those who were involved in the talks knew that there was no real outcome to be expected. He added that PTI members were not loyal to any cause, nor to their own leader.

Speaking to the media outside Parliament House, the minister emphasized that there was no valid reason to refuse negotiations. He referred to PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur’s admission of guilt, where Gandapur acknowledged that their party members had been misled. Asif questioned the purpose of forming a judicial commission, pointing out that those convicted had already confessed to their crimes.

Recalling his time in detention, Asif shared that he was only given a blanket during his imprisonment, and while the entire leadership was incarcerated, they never considered causing harm to the country.

Regarding the passage of the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), Asif defended the law by stating that social media restrictions are a global phenomenon, with similar measures being implemented in countries like the United States.
