In a significant development, Lahore police have arrested the mastermind of the honey trap gang, Hassan Shah, along with his accomplice Rafique, in Peshawar. The arrest is in connection with the kidnapping case of renowned Pakistani drama writer Khalilur Rehman Qamar.

According to details, Hassan Shah was the central figure in a gang comprising 12 members, including women. The police had previously arrested 12 suspects, including a woman, in connection with the case. The suspect allegedly leaked a compromising video of Khalilur Rehman Qamar, which led to the writer raising an alarm about being kidnapped.

Khalilur Rehman Qamar had earlier claimed that he was abducted and robbed in Lahore. He alleged that Amna Urooj, one of the accused, lured him to her house under the pretext of discussing a potential drama project. Once he arrived, armed men kidnapped him and released him after he paid a substantial ransom.

The police reported that the suspects robbed Qamar of his mobile phone, watch, cash, and transferred Rs250,000 from his ATM card. The playwright added that the kidnappers blindfolded him and left him in a deserted area before fleeing.

Amna Urooj, accused in the honey trap case, has accused Khalilur Rehman Qamar of ‘blackmailing’ her through videos. The court granted a four-day extension for Amna’s physical remand and directed the police to produce her again on July 30.

The arrest of the mastermind is a significant breakthrough in the case, and it is expected that more details will emerge as the investigation continues.
