Karachi, the bustling metropolis of Pakistan, is bracing itself for another spell of monsoon rains. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast scattered drizzle and rain in the city for today, August 26, with a possibility of light to heavy showers from Tuesday to Thursday.
According to the PMD, the weather in Karachi is expected to remain hot and humid for the next 24 hours, with temperatures ranging from 34 to 36°C and humidity at 78%. The minimum temperature recorded in the city is 28.5°C, with a wind speed of 14 kilometers per hour.
The forecast comes as various parts of the country continue to experience the prevailing monsoon season. The PMD has warned of urban flooding in Karachi, as the upcoming rain spell could be the most powerful one this monsoon season.
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has already imposed a rain emergency in the city, in light of predictions of heavy downpour in southern parts of the country. The move aims to ensure preparedness and minimize damage from the expected rains.
The areas in Sindh likely to receive showers include Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jamshoro, Tando Allayar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tharparkar, Nagarparkar, Mithi, Mirpur Khas, Umarkot, Matiari, Sanghar, Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Khairpur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Naushero Feroze.
