Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is renowned for her exceptional acting and bold choices. However, the past decade’s box office performance tells a different story.
While Kangana has delivered successful films like Queen and Tanu Weds Manu, her recent projects have failed to make an impact at the box office. Out of her 31 films, 22 have been labeled as flops. Her latest release, Emergency, marks her sixth consecutive unsuccessful film. In the past decade, 10 out of 11 of her films have failed, with only Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi (2019) achieving modest success.
Film critic Taran Adarsh attributes Kangana’s struggles to her increasing involvement in politics, which has made it difficult for audiences to accept her solely as an actress. “Her choice of films has also hurt her career. If she focuses on lighter, more mainstream films, she could regain the audience’s interest,” he explained.
Vishik Chauhan, the owner of a cinema in Bihar, noted that both Tejas and Emergency flopped, leading to the cancellation of several shows. “Kangana is a fantastic actress, but the stories of her films often feel boring and repetitive,” he added.
