US Vice President Kamala Harris formally accepted the Democratic nomination for president, delivering a powerful speech that drew a sharp contrast with Republican Donald Trump. Harris called for an end to the war in Gaza, securing Israel, and bringing hostages home. She also pledged to fight tyranny worldwide, accusing Trump of bowing down to dictators.

Harris’ speech was met with cheers as she addressed the final night of the Democratic convention in Chicago. She vowed to stand with Ukraine against Russia and with NATO allies, while also taking a strong stance against Iran.

The vice president also outlined her domestic policy vision, including a middle-class tax cut, fighting for abortion rights, voting rights legislation, and addressing the housing supply. Her campaign proposes raising the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%.

Harris’ speech came after days of protests from Palestinian supporters, who were disappointed at not getting a speaking spot at the convention. Her address aimed to redefine herself for America as she enters the final stretch of the campaign against Trump.
