Good news has come for electricity consumers in Karachi, as K-Electric has requested a reduction in fuel charges for November 2024. The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hold a public hearing on January 15 to review the request.

K-Electric has asked for a reduction of 4.98 rupees per unit under the Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for November 2024. A spokesperson for K-Electric stated that NEPRA will issue a written decision after reviewing the request. This marks the third consecutive FCA in which consumers are expected to receive relief.

After the public hearing, NEPRA will make a decision on which month’s bill the FCA will apply to. The FCA depends on fluctuations in fuel prices and changes in the generation mix.
