Islamabad:
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has formally declined to continue in his role as the administrative judge of the Supreme Court. Sources confirmed that when administrative files were sent to him, Justice Shah refused to sign them.
He returned the files with the statement, “I have stepped down as the administrative judge.”
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah was appointed as the administrative judge by former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
This development comes after the 26th Constitutional Amendment, which altered the procedure for the appointment of the Chief Justice and Supreme Court judges. Following the amendment, for the first time in Pakistan’s history, the parliamentary committee selected Justice Yahya Afridi as the Chief Justice, and senior-most judge, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, was not appointed to the position.
