The prosecutor claimed that Jan’s remand was necessary to recover ice (methamphetamine), prompting laughter in the courtroom. He further added that it was essential to investigate the source of the drugs allegedly linked to Jan.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has expressed serious concern over the journalist’s arrest and demanded his immediate release.
The PFUJ stated that Jan was taken from the premises of PIMS Hospital in Islamabad and was held in illegal detention for several hours before being shown in police custody at Margalla Police Station.
PFUJ President Afzal Butt and Secretary General Arshad Ansari condemned the incident, urging the Prime Minister and Interior Minister to ensure Jan’s swift release.
The union warned that if Jan is not released, protests will be held across the country.
