International martial arts icon Jackie Chan has made a startling revelation about his family, disclosing in a recent interview that his father was a spy and his mother had a troubled past involving drug smuggling and gambling.
In an interview with a foreign magazine, the 71-year-old actor shared that he discovered the truth about his father’s secret life when he was 40 years old. “One day while driving, my father suddenly said, ‘Son, I’m getting old. If I die in my sleep one day, you should know—your real name is not Chan, it’s Fang. And I was a spy,’” Jackie recalled.
The revelation left him stunned, and for a long time, he struggled to process the truth. Further details about his parents’ hidden lives were documented in the 2003 documentary Traces of the Dragon, which revealed his father’s espionage background and his mother’s past involvement in illegal activities.
Jackie Chan, who rose to Hollywood fame with his 1995 film Rumble in the Bronx, has recently returned to the big screen as Mr. Han in Karate Kid: Legends. The film introduces newcomer Ben Wang and has received a warm response from audiences worldwide.
