Gaza City,( The COW News Digital) Israeli military forces have intensified their operations in northern Gaza, launching a series of air and ground attacks that have killed more than 90 Palestinians in the past 24 hours, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health.

The strikes, which targeted multiple neighborhoods in the north, also extended to other parts of the besieged enclave. Health officials reported that among the dead were 37 Palestinians who had gathered to receive humanitarian aid when they were struck. The attack has drawn sharp condemnation from humanitarian groups, who described it as yet another tragedy compounding the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

The latest fatalities add to the mounting death toll from Israel’s nearly year-long military campaign in the strip, which has devastated infrastructure and left tens of thousands dead or wounded. Gaza’s health authorities also reported that famine conditions continue to claim lives, with eight more Palestinians — including children — dying from starvation this week. This brings the total number of hunger-related deaths to at least 235 since the escalation began.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of devastation, with residential blocks reduced to rubble and families scrambling to dig survivors out from beneath collapsed buildings. Emergency workers said their efforts are being hampered by the lack of fuel, medical supplies, and functioning hospitals, many of which have been damaged or destroyed in earlier bombardments.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire, with the United Nations warning that a “full-scale famine” is imminent if aid does not reach civilians urgently. Israel has faced mounting international criticism for what aid agencies describe as deliberate restrictions on humanitarian deliveries.

In a rare unified statement, several European governments expressed “deep concern” over the worsening famine in Gaza, urging Israel to guarantee the safe and unhindered delivery of aid. New Zealand’s government went further, calling the obstruction of aid and the forced displacement of Palestinians “shameful” and in violation of international law.

Israel has defended its operations, claiming they are aimed at dismantling militant networks in Gaza and preventing rocket attacks on its territory. However, human rights groups argue that the scale and scope of the attacks amount to collective punishment, which is prohibited under international humanitarian law.

As the civilian death toll continues to climb, calls for an immediate ceasefire and unfettered humanitarian access are growing louder, with global pressure mounting for Israel to halt its military campaign.
