The Israeli military launched a devastating airstrike on the southern Gaza area of Khan Yunis, resulting in the deaths of 28 Palestinians and injuries to more than 70 others.

According to Arab media reports, Israeli forces dropped nine bunker-buster bombs in the vicinity of the European Hospital, causing massive explosions that left the ground cracked open and a bus near the hospital sinking into the earth.

Israel claims the target of the attack was Hamas leaders, who were allegedly inside an underground command and control complex beneath the hospital. Palestinian sources reported that the airstrike was an attempt to kill Mohammed Sinwar, the brother of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

The Israeli bombardment also targeted individuals attempting to transport the injured to the hospital, further increasing the death toll. Local residents reported that the area shook violently from the bomb explosions, and panic spread throughout the hospital and its surroundings.

U.S. President Donald Trump, currently in Saudi Arabia for a Middle East visit, condemned the attack, stating, “The people of Gaza deserve a better future; this nightmare must end. I want peace around the world.”

Trump added that he is working to end the war between Israel and Gaza and described the loss of innocent lives in the region due to terrorism as unacceptable.
