Islamabad-Rawalpindi Road Closures and Traffic Disruptions

Road Closures: Multiple routes in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have been blocked by ICT Police and law enforcement agencies, including Faizabad to Murree Road and parts of the Islamabad Expressway.

Reason for Closures: The road closures are due to the protest calls by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI).

Traffic Disruptions: The road closures have caused significant traffic disruptions, with commuters facing long delays and public transport being severely affected .

Alternative Routes: The Islamabad Traffic Police have issued an alternative traffic plan to mitigate the disruptions, with citizens advised to use the following routes:

    – Korawalpindi Sadar route if Rawat Cross is closed

    – Motorway if Peshawar GT Road is closed

    – Peshawar Road, GT Road, and Colonel Sher Khan Road if Srinagar Highway G14 is closed

    – Shahri Park Road if Faizabad is closed

    – Faisal Avenue and Jinnah Avenue for zero point closure

    – 7 Avenue if Serena Chowk is closed

    – Shaheed Millat Road for Embassy Road closure

Police Deployment: Heavy contingents of Police have been deployed at the Faizabad Bridge and other areas.

Section 144 Imposed: Section 144 has been imposed in the federal capital and Rawalpindi, prohibiting public gatherings and rallies.
