A district and session court in Islamabad has extended the interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi until September 19. The court heard the case against the couple, who face multiple charges, with Imran Khan accused in six cases and Bushra Bibi in one.
Due to technical issues, Imran Khan’s video link hearing could not be held, and the court directed the jail authorities to submit a report on the matter. The court also extended Bushra Bibi’s interim bail until September 19, with her lawyer requesting permanent bail.
The session court adjourned the hearing and directed the parties to appear before the court on the next date of hearing.
In a related development, Imran Khan has filed a plea with the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the transfer of May 9 cases to military courts. He has made several government officials and agencies respondents in the case, pleading that the court prevent the transfer of cases for military court trials.
