TEHRAN — June 29, 2025:
In a significant gesture, Major General Abdul Rahim Mousavi, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, expressed his profound gratitude to Pakistan for its support and courageous stance against Israeli aggression. The acknowledgment came during a telephone conversation with Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir.
According to the Iranian state news agency Tasnim, Major General Mousavi praised the Pakistani government and people for their resolute position and cooperation during the recent conflict between Iran and Israel. He highlighted Pakistan’s solidarity as an important factor in countering the Zionist aggression and U.S.-backed terror operations against Iran.
During the discussion, the Iranian commander strongly condemned the U.S. and several Western countries for providing verbal and practical support to Israel amid the conflict. He underscored that the U.S. had mobilized its full capabilities to protect the Israeli regime from Iran’s drone and missile strikes.
Major General Mousavi pointed out that despite suffering significant losses early in the war, including the martyrdom of senior commanders, Iran successfully thwarted enemy plans and forced calls for a ceasefire. He emphasized Iran’s resilience and strategic defense in face of overwhelming opposition.
The recent conflict was triggered by Israeli attacks on June 13, which targeted Iranian military leadership and nuclear facilities. The strikes killed several top commanders, including the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Iran retaliated by targeting key Israeli sites, escalating the conflict into a 12-day war.
During this period, the United States intervened, claiming to have destroyed critical Iranian nuclear sites at Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan on June 22. In response, Iran launched attacks on U.S. bases in Qatar and Iraq, increasing pressure for a ceasefire.
Ultimately, a ceasefire agreement was implemented on June 24, ending the 12-day confrontation between Iran and Israel. The conflict underscored regional tensions and the involvement of international powers.
Major General Mousavi’s acknowledgment of Pakistan’s support highlights Islamabad’s role in regional security and its alignment with Iran against Israeli and American policies.
