Iran Agrees to Resume Nuclear Talks With European Powers

Tehran( The COW News Digital)Iran has signaled its willingness to resume nuclear negotiations with three key European countries — the United Kingdom, France, and Germany — according to Iranian media reports citing informed sources.

The talks, which are expected to begin as early as next week, aim to break the current diplomatic deadlock over Iran’s controversial nuclear program. However, the exact date and location of the meeting have not yet been finalized, and consultations among involved parties remain ongoing.

The news was first reported by a media outlet affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which stated that a “principled agreement” had been reached between Tehran and the European nations for re-engagement on nuclear dialogue.

The revived negotiations come amid heightened international tension, particularly after Israel and the United States reportedly targeted Iranian nuclear facilities last month. These attacks led to the suspension of indirect talks between Iran and the United States. The new European initiative is viewed as a last-ditch effort to restore dialogue before the reimposition of international sanctions.

In a parallel development, the European trio — the UK, France, and Germany — are said to be seriously considering the use of the United Nations Security Council’s “snapback” mechanism under the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). This would allow the automatic reinstatement of international sanctions on Iran in response to its nuclear activities, which Western powers claim have exceeded the limits set by the agreement.

Analysts believe this move is designed to pressure Tehran back into compliance and bring it to the negotiating table, particularly as Iran continues to refuse direct engagement with the United States.

Despite agreeing to resume discussions, Iran has maintained a defiant stance on its nuclear policy. Tehran insists that it will not make concessions or compromises that undermine what it describes as its “sovereign right” to peaceful nuclear development.

The current diplomatic push by European nations is seen as a strategic attempt to prevent a further escalation in the region and to avoid a complete collapse of the 2015 nuclear deal, which has been under severe strain since the U.S. withdrawal in 2018.

Whether the upcoming negotiations will lead to a meaningful breakthrough remains uncertain, but the willingness of Iran to return to dialogue is being cautiously welcomed by the international community.
