Inzamam criticizes Pakistan’s selection policies, backs Babar Azam

Former Pakistan captain and Peshawar Zalmi President Inzamam-ul-Haq has said frequent changes in the national team have negatively impacted performance.

Speaking to the media at an event in Lahore, Inzamam expressed his concerns over the declining form of the national team, stating that Pakistan had not played good cricket for the past year.

He termed the constant reshuffling of players and management as a major issue, urging the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to show more trust in both the management and the players.

Inzamam claimed that Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were not rested, but dropped from the squad.

“This decision was not in Pakistan cricket’s best interest, as removing experienced players weakens the team. Babar Azam is a great player, and every top cricketer goes through tough times.”

He added that Peshawar Zalmi fully supported Babar and stands behind him in every way.

Inzamam also warned that excluding senior players from the national setup could harm Pakistan cricket.

He pointed out that if players from the 1990s were entirely removed, the national team would become significantly weaker.

He stressed that learning from past mistakes and setting the right direction is crucial to ensuring Pakistan cricket’s long-term success.

The event where Inzamam made these remarks was held at Nishat Emporium Mall, Lahore, where Peshawar Zalmi and leading food brand Cheezious signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their partnership.

The MoU was signed by Peshawar Zalmi President Inzamam-ul-Haq and Cheezious CEO Imran Ejaz, marking a significant collaboration between the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise and the food industry.

Souvenirs were also exchanged between the two parties as a symbol of their agreement.

The event was graced by renowned analyst Hassan Nisar, social activist Shahid Qadir, and media personalities including anchorpersons Rehan Tariq, Usman Mehboob Goraya, Zohaib Saleem Butt, Chaudhry Shabbir, and Sajjad Bhutta.
