Internet Speed Not as Expected, Minister IT

Islamabad (NNI): Minister of State for IT, Shiza Fatima Khawaja, stated that the government is actively working to digitize the economy. Speaking at a recent event, she highlighted that Pakistan is moving forward with digitalization efforts, and the stabilization of the currency has greatly benefited the industry.

Shiza Fatima expressed optimism about the improving economy, stating that challenges are being addressed and investment in the technology sector is on the rise. However, she acknowledged that the internet speed in the country is still not at the level it should be, pointing out that the world is rapidly advancing in digitalization.

She also mentioned that the government is working on legislation to support digitalization and is focusing on promoting it despite challenges. Fatima expressed confidence that as the economy continues to improve, other areas will follow suit. Looking ahead, she hopes that in the next five years, efforts to enhance fiberization will be successful, noting that significant attention has been given to the right-of-way issue.
