New Delhi:
Following Pakistan’s victory on the ICC Champions Trophy issue, Indian media has started to express anger towards Jay Shah, the newly appointed Chairman of the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI). Journalists from private Indian channels have sharply criticized Shah’s decisions regarding the matter.
The media backlash intensified after the decision regarding the proposed tri-series between Pakistan and India, with Indian journalists accusing Shah and the BCCI of yielding to Pakistan’s demands. The journalists expressed dissatisfaction over the Indian board’s concessions, questioning whether it was necessary to accept all 15 points put forth by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in the board meeting.
Criticizing the International Cricket Council (ICC), Indian media also voiced their disapproval of the global governing body’s involvement in the matter. They questioned ICC’s authority in interfering in their internal affairs.
Indian journalists further criticized the BCCI for allegedly undermining the Indian government’s stance. They questioned why the PCB’s demands, which were seen as contrary to India’s position, were accepted by both the ICC and the Indian board.
