LUCKNOW( The COW News Digital)In a deeply distressing incident from Uttar Pradesh, a debt-ridden father ended his life after making a tearful plea for financial help on Facebook Live to buy insulin for his ailing daughter.
According to Indian media, the tragic episode occurred in Lucknow, where the man, reportedly a real estate agent, was overwhelmed by financial burdens and debts. His daughter suffered from diabetes, and he was unable to afford even basic medication such as insulin.
Before taking his life, the man went live on Facebook, visibly crying, and appealed to the public for help. In the emotionally charged video, he expressed helplessness over his inability to fulfill financial responsibilities, especially his daughter’s urgent medical needs.
“I have nothing left. I am drowning in debt and can’t even buy medicine for my daughter,” he said during the live video, while repeatedly breaking down in tears.
Concerned viewers and family members immediately alerted the police, fearing the worst. Despite the quick response, tragedy struck too soon. Moments after ending the livestream, the man reportedly used a security guard’s rifle at his office to shoot himself.
Law enforcement officials arrived at the scene but were unable to save him. While his identity has not been officially disclosed, police confirmed that he had been struggling with mounting debts and had no resources to support his family or access medical treatment for his daughter.
This harrowing incident has ignited a conversation on mental health, financial stress, and the desperation many families face when trying to secure life-saving medication.
Social activists and NGOs in India have also highlighted the need for stronger social welfare systems and mental health support for individuals under financial distress, especially in the wake of increasing suicide cases linked to medical expenses and debt.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the case and are reportedly providing support to the bereaved family.
