Despite a ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India, the Kartarpur Corridor remains closed from the Indian side following the military escalations on May 6 and 7. The corridor, which allows Sikh pilgrims from India to visit the sacred Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan without a visa, has been fully operational from Pakistan’s end.

The management of the Kartarpur Darbar has reiterated its readiness to host Sikh pilgrims at any time, expressing disappointment over India’s continued closure of the route. “We are always prepared to welcome our Sikh brothers,” said a representative of the shrine’s administration.

Meanwhile, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, Chairman of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee and Punjab’s Minister for Minority Affairs and Human Rights, has called on India to immediately reopen the Kartarpur Corridor.

In a statement, Minister Arora invited Sikhs from India and across the globe to attend key upcoming religious events, including the martyrdom anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev Ji and the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in June. “Pakistan’s doors are always open for our Sikh brethren,” he emphasized, adding that the bond between Pakistan and the Sikh community is rooted in strong historical and spiritual ties.

Speaking to Express News via vlog, Arora praised the global Sikh community for supporting Pakistan’s stance during the recent tensions with India. He noted that the Pakistani state, government, and people deeply value the unwavering loyalty shown by Sikhs around the world.

The Kartarpur Corridor, inaugurated in 2019, is a symbol of interfaith harmony and remains a key conduit for religious tourism and people-to-people contact between the two countries. Pakistan continues to advocate for its restoration as a gesture of goodwill and religious freedom.
