Following Pakistan’s response to India’s aggressive actions, the Indian government and cricket board are reportedly considering relocating IPL matches out of concern for potential attacks.
According to media reports, the match between Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants, scheduled to take place at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, may be moved to Mumbai due to growing security concerns.
Reports suggest that India has already closed several airports due to fears of retaliation, with the Mumbai Indians team currently stranded in Chandigarh.
Furthermore, the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, scheduled for Thursday in Dharamshala, is also being closely monitored, with both teams already in the city. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is awaiting government instructions on how to proceed.
In another development, the Gujarat Cricket Association claimed to have received an anonymous email threatening to bomb the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The matter has been reported to the police, and authorities are investigating the threat.
To protect against further threats, the ruling BJP party has placed the country on high security alert and deployed additional personnel for IPL matches across India. The government’s swift action underscores the heightened state of fear surrounding the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.
