Islamabad (News Desk): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Salman Akram Raja criticized the possibility of a military court trial for Imran Khan, calling it a “childish move” and a violation of human rights. He also highlighted concerns raised by the European Union over military courts.

Speaking on a private TV program, Raja emphasized that trying civilians in military courts contradicts human rights principles. “Civilians cannot and should not be tried in military courts,” he asserted.

He noted that the European Union has expressed reservations regarding military courts, adding, “We all know what happens in military courts. If Imran Khan is tried in one, it will reflect poorly on the justice system.” Raja also acknowledged that sentences handed down by military courts during PTI’s tenure were similarly flawed.

Highlighting the judicial process within military courts, Raja explained, “Cases are heard by officers from the Ministry of Defence. If the PTI founder faces severe punishment, it will lack public acceptance.” He also alleged that party members are being detained to exert pressure on PTI leadership.

Raja reiterated PTI’s demands, including the release of detained members and a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9 and November 26. He dismissed rumors of a deal for Imran Khan, stating that while various options are being discussed, his release is essential for the country’s stability.
